Orphanage- Kampala
Previously the small Orphanage in Kampala housed up to 20 children who's
parents have typically died of AIDS. These children would otherwise be on
the streets. They are supported by Scolastine, Justine, Samuel, Medius, Eva
and a cook who live in the orphanage. These
children all lived in two small rooms attached to the Living Word
Temple Church. There was no schooling and very basic living conditions. In
2005 Aim for Change purchased a new home in a residential area which
can now house 46 orphan children.
Ugandan legislation requires that boys and girls are housed seperately and
so in 2006 we purchased a further building to house the boys. These
new buildings are much more secure, with
surrounding walls and we employ security guards
at night time. The small original orphanage is now
being used to house young homeless people who are running a taxi-bicycle
service, a popcorn business, a shoe-shine business,a hair
salon and a sewing workshop
which provides self-sufficiency.

The majority of
the children in our
care (140 in total across Uganda) are in full time education. Supporting a
child in the orphange, including schooling costs £150 per child per year. We have provided beds, cots and some educational toys and
games. These children have nothing and
desperately need your help. Many people have decided to sponsor an
individual child through to senior school. This costs £150 per
year. Many
children still need sponsors. The chance to attend
school and gain an education can really transform these children's lives-
they are very motivated to succeed and really appreciate your support.
